Our Approach

A Curriculum, Not a Checklist.

At Halcyon, ABA and education are planned as one connected programme, not separate lists of goals. We assess skills carefully, choose the right starting point, and build support under the supervision of a Qualified Behaviour Analyst.

Programme Design

How We Build Your Child's Programme

We first understand how your child communicates, learns, copes, plays, and moves through everyday life. Then we choose the right starting point, teach skills that matter, and review progress regularly so the plan stays useful.

Every target has a reason, and every tier connects—so progress in one area can support progress in the next.

Curriculum Architecture

The Three-Tier Curriculum

Foundations

How your child communicates, learns, and reasons. We use a skills assessment to set a clear baseline across early communication, generalising skills to new settings, connecting concepts, and problem-solving. A library of 700+ foundation programs means placement is matched to your child: careful, not guessed.

Everyday Life

The seven domains of daily life, drawn from 1,400+ skill targets:

  • Applied Social Skills
  • Executive Function
  • Pre-Academic Readiness
  • Motor Skills
  • Personal Care
  • Play & Leisure
  • Vocational & Independence

Our Own Modules

Proprietary modules we build and validate in-house, targeting the skills standard curricula overlook:

  • Self-Advocacy — recognising and communicating one's own needs, choices, and boundaries
  • Social Cognition — reading social cues, perspective-taking, and navigating relationships
  • Caregiver Training — equipping families to extend and sustain progress at home

Each is grounded in current research and designed to grow with your child.

Placement

Where Your Child Starts Is Decided by Skills Assessment

Placement is never decided by age, diagnosis, or assumption. Two children the same age can begin in very different places, and that is exactly the point: the curriculum bends to the child, not the other way around.

Academic Pathways

Two Respected Academic Pathways

Not every child follows the same academic route, and both are respected: a formal academic pathway for learners pursuing structured education, and a functional, real-world pathway focused on independence and participation. The pathway is assigned from the PEAK Comprehensive Assessment (PCA), and a child can move between them as they grow.

Accountability

Credentialed, Supervised, Accountable

Every Halcyon programme is overseen by a Qualified Behaviour Analyst (QBA, QABA), and our therapists are credentialled by the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA).

QBA supervision is part of every case, and the same clinical standard follows your child across places and time.

In practice, we measure support the way families do—a child reaching something today that was out of reach yesterday.

Ethics

Ethics, Not Just Outcomes

Our practice is assent-informed and dignity-led. We are honest about what we can and cannot promise—no cures, no inflated timelines—and we report progress from data, not optimism. We build skills and remove barriers without trying to erase who your child is.

Expectations

What Families Can Expect from Us

The PEAK Comprehensive Assessment (PCA) is Halcyon's assessment protocol built on the PEAK Relational Training System, a trademark of its respective owner; Halcyon applies it within skills assessment and programme design.

You do not need all the answers to begin. Send a short enquiry and we will help you understand what makes sense next.

Send an Enquiry
  1. Send a short enquiry

A few lines about your child and what you're hoping for. No reports or medical details needed.

  2. A starting conversation

We talk through fit, answer your questions, and suggest whether ABA, education support, or a combination makes sense.

  3. A proposed support route

If it's a fit, we outline a starting point and how supervision, review, and updates will work.
